Most of my senior peers are counting down the days until graduation but I am dreading it. After I walk across the stage in my cap and gown at the Civic Center, I am no longer apart of the Golden Fleece Media Group.
My greatest high school memories are from the Golden Fleece starting with Kanuga. Every year our class rents a cabin Labor Day weekend at Kanuga Conference Center to have some team-bonding. We theme the entire weekend and fill it with crazy activities like canoe racing, high-ropes courses and of course tug of war. On the first night, we always take a hike and journal at the top to reflect on our day.
As I hiked up to Eagle Rock for the first time during my sophomore year I didn’t know what to write and frankly, I thought journaling was a little awkward. We set in silence up on the mountain for at least ten minutes and my journal entry was pretty bland.

Today we left for Kanuga and we are at Eagle Rock right now. I feel I have bonded so well with people and I can’t wait to see what comes. I can't wait for a great year or years with this class.
Two years later I set in the exact same spot but had a completely different point of view. I once was the newbie of the class and now I was the old returner.

Today almost two years ago I was at Kanuga sitting at Eagle Rock enjoying a beautiful sunset just like I am now. I look around to see all the newbies brand new journals. It's their new start, Its crazy to think in two years they could be sitting here with a journal full of memories like mine.
This class has not only filled me with the greatest memories but the greatest tools to grow. I learned to become less selfish, to be patient, to be a leader and most importantly learn how to be a #proudmom.
In the class, I am known as the mom. If there is a problem I am there to help fix it, if someones fighting I will break it up and I am most definitely there to cheer on everyone's success. Nothing makes me happier than to see my family members grow and I am so grateful for my board position so I can see that up close.
My board positions the past two years allowed me to look from a different perspective of how the class ran but no matter what angle you look at it this class is family.
