This morning it was not to hard to get up especially considering it was a rainy Monday. I don’t feel the need to check my social media in the morning anymore, but i’m still working on not getting the urge to when things are slow. During first period we watched videos and talked as a class so I didn’t find the need to check my social media. Through the rest of the school day I couldn’t find the time to check my phone let alone my social media since everyone is in testing mode. After school I went to the store and when I got home I watched Jane the VIrgin on Netflix. I didn’t have much of break time when I got home because I needed to shower and get all dressed up before the Journalism Awards Ceremony. At the awards ceremony I talked with my friends rather than sitting on my phone checking social media. I got home after the ceremony and started to get ready for bed because I have an exam in english tomorrow that I have to be rested for. Going to sleep was super easy, I was so tuckered out on my last monday of sophomore year. I have now completed eight days of the journey only 22 to go!

This morning was a little hard to get up because I had stayed up so late the night before talking with my family. I didn’t have time to think about checking social media because I had to hurry and shower before church. At church I don’t have time at all to be on my phone or social media for that matter because there is so many people to say hello to before the service starts. After church my family and I all eat together and it is rude to use your phone at the dinner table. Today was rainy and all my siblings and I just wanted to mope around and play on our phones. I took the opportunity to talk to my Nana and play cards with my little brother rather than checking social media. I went to sleep pretty early since it had been a rainy day and that always makes me sleepy. When I go to sleep now I like to listen to music to calm me down which helps. Seven days down only 23 to go!
This morning I had no trouble getting out of bed because my puppy Spike had to go outside. Once I was up I started to work on some paper work for my summer class, so I had no time to check social media. Throughout the day it was very slow in my house and not much went on. I watched and finished the first season of Riverdale which was amazing. As I was watching the show, at points it would get a little slow and I would go to my phone to check my social media that wasn’t there. For dinner Grace, Jeffery and I went to Burgerworx, during dinner Grace and Jeffery talked about things they had seen on instagram or snapchat so I just set quietly since I had no idea what they were talking about. They also were on their phones checking social media, so I just pretended I was looking at mine when I was actually just looking at my home screen. I have noticed through the past few days that I look at my social media a lot when other people do it to or when there is an awkward situation. I have also noticed that when people hang out with each other it is very common for people to check their social media even with their friends around. As I continue with this challenge I hope to notice more things rather than keeping my nose in my phone. Day six complete only 24 to go.
This morning I jumped out of the bed because I was so excited because it was Paper Day! I didn’t have time to check social media because it was a rush to get to school by 7:00 am. During first period I worked on English again because I accidentally forgot to do it the night before. Throughout the day at school I didn’t have time to look at my social media because I was so busy. After school I got to hang out with Amelia Eggert and we decided to go take pictures at the Arboretum instead of sitting at home on our phones. Here are some cute ones I got of Amelia: After Amelia and I went and took pictures, we decided to go get milkshakes at a little diner called Corner Grill. When we got home we hung out and talked which was nice because I didn’t have the distraction of my social media. Going to bed was super easy because Amelia and I talked until we fell asleep. Day five down only 25 to go!
Today was hard to get up, not because I didn't have my social media to look at but because I was exhausted! During first period I decided to work on my English homework so I don’t have to stay up late tonight. Today at lunch everyone was really quite and played on their phones, so I sort of just set there silently. After school today I was able to hang out with my friend Marissa Eudy before we went to the School Board Meeting. Roberson’s FCCLA program, that I am apart of, got recognized at the School Board for winning a spot to go to Nationals. We all got dressed up and took pictures, I really want to be able to post one of the pictures but I don’t have my social media. Tonight was a little rough to go to bed because I wasn’t that tired so I just laid there and listened to music and I eventually fell asleep.
This morning I was able to get right up and didn't even worry about checking my social media that was not there. Throughout I didn't really have time to play on my phone, so it wasn't a problem that I didn't have social media. After school we had our final crunch, during this I was able to update my website during down time. I did not get home until 9:00 pm, so I didn't have much time to play on social media because I had to do homework and get ready for bed. Going to bed tonight wasn't as bad since I was very tired. Day three down, 27 to go.
Today was also a struggle with getting up this morning because I couldn't check social media to help me wake up before I got ready for school. I am still allowed to listen to music which helps a lot to get me through my morning routine with no social media. When I got to school I found I was more productive. Durning first period we watched dance videos and had the opportunity to be on our phone as well. Everyone was on their phone looking at social media while I was working on an application. I'm able to get more done because i'm not being distracted by the constant social media notifications. Night time was easier today because I was tuckered out. Day two of the journey complete 28 to go.
Day one of no social media and it has been a little strange. When I wake up, I always check my social media, but this morning I woke up and had nothing to check. I got up to get breakfast before I went to go watch Netflix. While I watch Netflix I like to also look at social media, but when I opened my phone they were gone. Through out the day I tried to look at my social media when I had down time and I struggled with not having it to look at. At night to wind down, I like to check my social media one last time before I go to sleep, but I couldn't and it took me a while to fall asleep. This is the journey of day one, only 29 to go.
For my final exam I will not be using social media for 30 days. I have deleted the instagram, snapchat, and pintrest app from my phone so it does not tempt me to look at it. I hope that this will help me realize that there is so much more to do then look at a sreen to see what other people are doing. I also hope that it will help me stay focused in school more, at least for the last two weeks that is. Once the summer starts I think it will be harder for me to not have social media since I will have a lot more down time and less distractions from my phone. I hope to not let myself down and cave in to look at social media for 30 days!
